Master's Degree Program in Taxation Policy and Management - Program Objectives

1. To cultivate an understanding of the relation between tax administration, including taxation systems, and economic growth, from the viewpoint of administration and public finance.

2. To provide comprehensive knowledge of the concepts and methods of the entire taxation process: from enactment of legislation that implements tax policy to tax law enforcement.

3. To enhance student appreciation of the application of acquired knowledge, through study of the practices of the National Tax Administration and through writing evaluative reports about these practices.

This Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is one of the personnel training projects intended for developing countries conducted by the World Bank in cooperation with the government of Japan. Participants of this program will follow a special curriculum developed by Keio University. Successful participants are expected to become taxation specialists.

In addition to the primary academic focus of the program, students are also expected to participate in various activities on and off the university campus. Through interaction with various individuals and different aspects of Japan and Japanese society, the Graduate School of Business and Commerce hopes that the active participation of our students will facilitate a deeper understanding of and respect for other cultures and societies.
