FIELDS OF RESEARCH
MANAGEMENT
In addition to theoretical and methodological research on business and organization
behavior, wide-ranging problems including empirical and statistical analysis
on present-day Japanese business are conducted. The approaches adopted include
American Business Management Theories and German Managerial Economics.
ACCOUNTING
With the tradition of the founder the university, Yukichi Fukuzawa, introducing
western accounting systems to Japan, the fields covered by the faculties of
Accounting division include financial accounting, management accounting, and
accounting history.
COMMERCE
& MARKETING
Market problems that arise from products and service are theoretically and experimentally
analyzed. Objects investigated include distribution, wholesale and retail, advertising,
service, and consumer behavior.
FINANCE
With the aim of focusing on monetary issues of economic society, extensive research
ranging from financial problems of each economic subject to national economy
are being conducted.
INSURANCE
Insurance, the significant economic system, are investigated extensively. Studies
are viewed from economic, operational, actuarial perspectives.
INDUSTRIAL
RELATIONS
Problems surrounding society and those who sustain society by providing the
labor force are the subject of studies. In particular, the focus is laid upon
how workers and management should be.
TRANSPORT,
PUBLIC UTILITIES & INDUSTRIAL ORGANIZATIONS
Competition, monopoly and relations between market/industrial organizations
and governments in the capitalistic economy are examined and analyzed.
BUSINESS
HISTORY & INDUSTRIAL HISTORY
Based on the historical studies of business activities in modern Japan and the
western world, questions, such as technological change, transformation of management
structures and efficiency of industrial finance, are explored together with
an institutional background.
ECONOMETRICS
The initial aim of this field is to examine and analyze economic phenomena qualitatively
and quantitatively, and see stable regularity there.
INTERNATIONAL
ECONOMICS
In line with current internationalization, this field aims at theoretically
solving the problems of trade and the international finance, and capital movement,
focusing on the Japanese economy closely related to the international economic
activity.
